Key sites of the Var
A wide range of activities are on offer with many tourist and cultural sites of interest.
The BEST WESTERN Montfleuri is an ideal base for discovering the museums of the Var département. A few worthwhile addresses await, such as the Tour Carrée in Ste. Maxime, or L’Annonciade museum in St. Tropez. The latter is dedicated to artists inspired by the town of St. Tropez, including Signac, Matisse and Derain. Founded in 1992, it was one of the most active focal points in avant-garde painting in the early 20th century. The exhibition includes paintings mainly from the pointilliste, nabis and fauve movements. It is now deemed the leading Contemporary Art museum in France.

Le Thoronet Abbey
Founded in 1160 by a community of monks, Le Thoronet Abbey stands testament to the first Cistercian presence in the region. Located in the delightful commune of Le Thoronet, the building is a wonderful example of how stone and light can be showcased to perfection.
Every detail blends seamlessly to create a historical decor that invites exploration and an aura that commands respect for this impressive building tucked away in the wooded valleys of the Var backcountry. It is one of the most remarkable abbeys belonging to the Order of Cîteaux.

Fréjus, city of art and history
Fréjus, the third largest city in the Var, is a commune of over 50,000 inhabitants, nestled between the massifs of Les Maures and Estérel.
The importance of its monuments make it a highly cultural city of art and history. The city’s amphitheatre, antique theatre, archaeological museum, Cathedral cloisters, etc. stand testament to the past. Art is also well represented by the many exhibitions organised all year round.
